#SFGiants News and Notes: 1) Rookie starter Chris Heston (pictured) was so impressive in his first outing against the D-Backs last night (6 innings, 3 hits, 2 unearned runs) that manager Bruce Bochy will keep in the rotation for now (which means his next start will be the home opener Monday against the Rockies, the day another banner will be raised).

2) Jake Peavy threw a full bullpen session with no pain and expects to start as planned in San Diego on Sunday. Peavy's issue was his sacroiliac joint, which locked. Relief came when two trainers unlocked it with a message harsh enough to bruise the pitcher's back. The key will be how he feels Thursday, the day after his bullpen session.

3) A MRI on Brandon Belt revealed only a minor strain. Belt took 25 swings in the cage without having to back off and joked, "I hit two cage bombs." Manager Bruce Bochy hopes to use him as a pinch-hitter as soon as Thursday in San Diego.

4) The G-Men will wear uniform patches honoring Lon Simmons, hopefully as soon as Monday’s home opener. They will read, simply, “LON.”
