UPDATE: PENCE IS OFFICIALLY BACK TONIGHT, BATTING 4TH!

PENCE CLOSE TO RETURNING: The Giants could be getting a big boost for their offense before the All-Star break.

Right fielder Hunter Pence, who has been on the disabled list retroactive to June 3 with left wrist tendonitis, was scheduled to meet with team doctors Monday to determine if he will be able to return to the lineup later in the week, manager Bruce Bochy said.

Pence took batting practice for the first time Sunday since the Giants placed him on the DL and did so again before Monday's game. He looked comfortable in the box, launching multiple balls over the wall in left field and spraying a few into Triples Alley in right-center at AT&T Park.

"I didn't think he was going to take [batting practice] yesterday," Bochy said Monday. "[The doctors] told me he was and he felt good enough to. Watching him, I said, "The guy's healthy." {Source: MLB.com}
