BREAKING: Giants acquire OF Marlon Byrd from the Reds in exchange for AA Pitcher Stephen Johnson.
The veteran has 19 home runs this year -- tied with Brandon Crawford for most on the Giants. He's batting .237 with a .286 on-base percentage, 46 runs, 42 RBI, 101 strikeouts and 23 walks over 96 games.
Byrd, who turns 38 Aug. 30, is a .275 career hitter with 150 home runs and 660 RBI over 14 MLB seasons.
