Sadly, it's time to say so long to our Freak. Pending the results of a physical, Giants former FRHP (Freakish RHP!) will sign with the LA Angels as a starting pitcher, which is what he wanted. The Giants would only sign him as a reliever. He started with the Giants in 2007, and stayed through the 2015 season, when a hip injury last June put him on the DL, and his contract was up while he was still working to rehab his hip, so he was not signed by any team last summer. Timmy (aka Timmeh, as slang by the fans, and Big Time Timmy Jim for his clutch pitching) was nicknamed The Freak because he is small (5'11" and 170 lbs., small for a pro athlete), but the power in his throwing arm is absolutely freakish! He will be 32 in just under a month, but he still looks about 10 years younger than his actual age! He also has a very quirky, smart, and funny personality, which makes him even more lovable. In the eyes of many Giants fans, Timmy will always be a Giant, which makes this a very sad day for so many of us. At least 90% of the BPFZ fans wanted him to re-sign with our beloved San Francisco Giants. Here are a few of his amazing accomplishments to date in his career: Golden Spikes Award (2006, as a Washington Husky, where he also became the first Husky to be drafted in the 1st MLB round, 10th overall by the #SFGiants. 3× World Series Champion ('10, '12, & '14. In '10 he was our Ace, in '12 & '14 he came in as a *spectacular* reliever). Babe Ruth Award (2010) for MVP in 2010 postseason play. 2× NL Cy Young Award* (2008–2009). 3× NL strikeout leader (2008–2010). 4× All-Star* (2008–2011). Only no-hit repeat against the same team in MLB history, both against the SD Padres, in 2013 & 2014. And best "Buster Hug" after his 2nd no-hitter in San Diego, says his battery mate, starting catcher, Buster Posey. *The only other MLB pitcher to win 2 Cy Young awards and play in 4 All Star Games, was Sandy Freakin' Koufax! That's some pretty great company! The Angeles will not play the Giants again this regular season, but they will play the Oakland A's on June 23rd through 26th in Oakland, so get your tickets now if you want to see our Freak in the Bay Area! We, the fans, wish you all the best (unless we meet you in the World Series!) and hope you have a very successful remainder of your career and a happy personal life - you will always be our Freak! We love ya, Timmeh! ️⚾️️
