Giants win the rubber match and take the series! In a weekend that was hyped up to be all about Huddy and Zito, instead, it turned in to the Jarrett Parker Show! So here are some wild stats and other info about this guy: -He's the first Giants player to have at least 3 homers and 7 RBIs in a game since Willie Mays did it in 1961! -He's the first Giant with a 3-homer game since Sandoval in 2013 (I remember that game like it was yesterday!) -As of yesterday, he had 5 homers in his last 9 at bats! -He hits a home run 10% of the time that he's hitting, for comparison, Giancarlo Stanton is 2nd with 4.9%. -The last rookie to hit 3 homers in a game: Andrew McCutchen in 2009. That's some pretty great company. -Parker is 26, he's from Virginia and went to UVA, he was drafted in the 2nd round in 2010 by the Giants and spent 2011 & 2012 with the Single-A San Jose Giants and was promoted to the Double-A Richmond (VA) Flying Squirrels for 2013 & 2014. -Because he was called up to San Francisco for one day in 2014, he has a World Series ring! -Of yesterday's game, Boch said "that's the best offensive game I've ever seen. It's just an amazing day for this kid." That's quite a compliment coming from a guy who's been managing for 20 years and before that, playing for 20+ years! -And finally, don't forget the homer Parker blasted up in to the 2nd deck at O.Co on Friday night - that very rarely happens! -Parker said that when he was called up last year he was not aggressive enough, didn't take enough swings, and if he ever got another chance, he was going to go for it - boy has he ever! -Boch pranked Wotus this morning, handing him a lineup card that had Parker on the bench ;) Let's hope we see Jarrett Parker back in San Francisco in 2016!
