Cueto & Crawford injury updates, plus:
Johnny came out of the game in the 6th last night with a strained left groin. He will have a MRI this morning to determine the severity of his injury. He was funny during his post game interview, stating that he'd never had this kind of injury before and "it was like a crab just grabbed me there and bit me!" All stated with that great big smile on his face. We will post an update when the MRI results are in.
Clutch Crawford came out in the 2nd after sliding head first in to third base and dislocating his left pinky finger. This is a very common injury when sliding head first. Crawford, who leads the team in 148 games played so far this season, was worried he had broken it, but an immediate x-ray last night showed no broken bones. He should only be out a day or two, just like Panik was when he had the same injury last season.
Finally, we want to give Eduardo "Triple Threat" Nùñez major kudos, because we didn't at the time he deserved it! He hit a sweet home run to put us on the board last night, and he manufactured our only run on Monday night when he stole 2nd and 3rd, and then scored on a wild pitch! He is fast, can steal a base like nobody's business, and is always ON! His huge smile and great attitude must be very helpful in the dugout and clubhouse.
We wish a very, very speedy recovery to Cueto and Crawford - we need you both back ASAP! We also wish the best of luck to Matty Moore as he goes for his 5th win as Giant this season in his first time back in Chavez Ravine since he threw 8-2/3 no hit innings on August 28th! His attitude afterwards was so great! Instead of being upset that he didn't get the no-no, he was thrilled that he had done so well. The smile on his face told the whole story. We sure have a lot of great smiles on our beloved Giants. Let's hope we see lots of them in the last 11 games of the regular season!
Let's Go Giants!
