On this day 6 years ago, for the first time in San Francisco, the Giants won the World Series! Previously, it was last won in 1954 when the Giants still played in New York. At long last, the drought was over!
The series was between the Giants and the Texas Rangers. The Giants won games 1, 2, 4, and 5. The Rangers only won game 3. Games 2 and 4 were shutouts, with Cain and Bum pitching respectively. Lincecum pitched the first and the last game, with Brian Wilson getting the final save.
Édgar Rentería was named the 2010 World Series MVP after hitting game-winning home runs in Games 2 and 5 of the series. He is the fourth player to have multiple World Series-winning hits, along with Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio, and Lou Gehrig! That's some mighty fine company.
The Giants held a victory parade on November 3, following the same parade route that the team used when they moved from New York. With some estimates of a million fans lining the route, the parade and rally at City Hall was the largest event ever in the city of San Francisco. BART set an all-time single day record for ridership, breaking its previous record by almost twenty percent!
I hope you all enjoy these photos of our beloved Boys of Summer, most of whom have retired or moved on, and have great memories of the series that began a Dynasty!
