Our beloved Matt "Big Daddy" Cain has just announced his retirement. He's been with the Giants since 2005, and played a big part in the team winning 3 World Series Championships in 5 years. The Horse will be the starting pitcher on Saturday vs. the Padres, and that will be his final appearance. We love you, Matty - you will be missed!
On June 13, 2012, Cain pitched the 22nd perfect game in MLB history and the first in Giants' franchise history. Pitching against the Houston Astros at AT&T Park, Cain retired all 27 batters he faced and tallied 14 strikeouts, tied for the most strikeouts in a perfect game with Sandy Koufax in 1965.
