That was a very painful loss. We had it in the bag after 8, and in 24 pitches, Casilla blew his 7th, and most heartbreaking, save of the season. Buster may be injured (hit by bat twice, probably minor injuries), Belt may have another concussion (hit in back of head by 90 mph pitch), and overall, the Boys are just tired very late in the season.
We have another day game in Denver tomorrow, and travel from Wrigley to Coors is a long nightmare of driving, then flying, then more driving. Luckily, Moore flew ahead of the team, so he will be rested for his start tomorrow.
My guess, and it's only a guess, is that Boch will do some of his masterful maneuvering and call up a catcher (I'm guessing Tony Sanchez, just acquired a few weeks ago, now in AAA Sacramento), Buster will play 1B for Belt who should not fly after being nailed so hard. He should stay in Chicago for a battery of tests to make sure he's good to go before he flys (and maybe Casilla should stay in Chicago with him!). And the very tired Gmen will face the Rockies at 1:10 PST tomorrow, going in 3 GB from first place in the NLW with only 26 games left in the regular season. Thursday is an off day between the Rockies and the Dbacks, and then home for the second from last home stand.
We still have a chance, but it will be tough. And if the San Francisco Giants are one thing, they are tough! Let the torture roll on! Pitch your heart out Matt Moore! Let's Go Giants!
