The 2017 World Baseball Classic started on Monday, and Team USA will play their first game tomorrow (Friday, 3/10). They will take on Colombia at 3pm PST at Marlins Park in Miami and the game will air on MLBTV. If you don't have MLBTV, try ESPN Deportes, the exclusive Spanish-language network of the WBC. You may not be able to understand the calls, but at least you can watch!
There are four first-round pools that include 4 teams each. Of those teams, two from each pool advance to a 1 of 2 second-round pools. Two teams from each second-round pool advance to the single-elimination finals round, which begins on 3/20 at Dodger Stadium.
The first two rounds are played under a round-robin format with one-game tiebreakers if necessary. As for Team USA, they’ll play in the Miami first-round pool, and they’ll be competing against Colombia, Canada, and the defending WBC champion Dominican Republic.
Buster talks with Team USA Manager Jim Leyland yesterday in Miami. BPFZ will keep you posted on the progress of our team. We're looking to make history as Team USA has never won the WBC. Let's Go USA!
