The BPFZ crowd tends to be a very positive, die hard, love ya win or lose type of crowd, which is specifically the type of page we've cultivated from the start. We appreciate your great attitudes immensely! But this season has been rough so far, and negative and unsupportive comments are creeping back in. Because of that, I thought I'd share the words of our retired, but always beloved 3B Coach Tim Flannery, who helped wave Buster and everyone else home more times than we can count! This is literally "inside baseball" and will give you a fresh perspective on just how hard it is to play this game that we all love and cherish.

"Ok...I'm crazy tonight, but I have something to say. In 2007 we were asked to come to San Francisco to create a team. I left everything: my family, my job, everything, to sleep on someone's floor in the fog to believe we could put something together to win. After all the Giants had been in San Francisco for 56 years and never won. So after developing an environment for a team to grow, we become tough, 7 elimination games, 3 World Championships, amazing energy, amazing run...it takes its toll. I had to retire. I gave everything I had. We must have made it look easy, when it's demanded every even year. If it was that easy why didn't you demand it in those 56 years when it was never done? All you needed was to yell and demand?

Where's Lincecum? The list goes on and on, the names will go down in history, the teams will go down in history, you can't take that away, but to think there was this magic formula we tapped into to make it happen is absurd. We had 3 magic, sacred seasons that the gods of baseball let happen. Yell all you want, demand all you want, name your rats and dogs Buster, we won because it was our time, not because you screamed and demanded. It might happen again, it might not, the Cubs had even Year magic..1908...it's that [&@$#]ing hard. So enjoy the game, enjoy transition, players who come and go, teams that win and lose, players you will never forget, some you can't wait to forget, I hear fans screaming at this team, " we can't stand it", my thought always is " you should try it for a living, "it's killed friends of mine I had to bury, the game is a beast. This might not be your favorite team, but it's a beautiful sacred game, and you all got to see 3 World Championships. It takes new players, scouting, development, time...because "time changes everything." Go Giants, with you no matter what.

This isn't about trolls or haters, it's about the truth. I'm not fighting, I'm speaking about what others haven't a clue about...I need no support from friends. My life is my life...could care less your perspective. You ain't lived it."

On this day in 1972, the San Francisco Giants traded Willie Mays to the Mets for a minor leaguer and $50K, as he wanted to end his career where he started. It sure is great he's back here in our yard on a regular basis! We love ya Mr. Mays! #24
