Javier Lopez announced today that he is retiring. “More than anything, it’s just time,” Lopez said. “It’s a young man’s game. Although I think I can compete, it’s getting harder and harder to get ready for spring." In addition to helping the Giants win three championships, he also had an immense impact in the clubhouse. We're hoping, of course, that his next adventure is Giants related! He would make a fantastic broadcaster or coach, would he not? Best of luck, Javi! We will miss you!

It appears as though the Giants have re-signed Gordon Beckham to a one year minor league deal. He wasn't terribly impressive last season, so we shall see! He does, however, go way back with Buster. They played for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Summer League back in college. Somewhere I have a photo... Only FIVE days until pitchers and catchers report! (Yes, I know The Duffman is no longer a G-Man, but he is in our hearts, and we don't have an active number 5 player. Plus, this is my one of my favorite plays of Panik. I believe he'd just hit a walk off homer to beat LA, and he's never looked so happy! From every angle, his smile just lights up his face.
