Spring Training is here, we have three new and exciting players. Here's a bit about each of them:Jeff Samardzija (I can actually spell it now without looking) comes to us from the Chicago White Sox. He's a right handed pitcher and will be in the starting rotation. (Career ERA: 4.09) His nickname is The Shark, so now we'll have two sharks (Gregor Blanco = The White Shark). Johnny Cueto, from the reigning World Champion Kansas City Royals, is also a right handed pitcher and will join the starting rotation as well. (Career ERA: 3.30) Buster has said he is really...

Buster currently goes home to Georgia in the off-season, but in the next year or so he and his family will make the Bay Area their permanent, year round home. They're making this change in time for kindergarten to start for their kids. He says he's excited and looking forward to raising his kids here because it's such a special place. MLB and the Players Union announced new rules to make sliding safer. They have also made neighborhood play calls reviewable by instant replay (which we knew was coming), and have added more new rules to quicken the pace of the game. The new pace rules started last season have successfully reduced 9 inning games by just over 6 minutes, dropping the average length from 3:02 in 2014 to 2:56 in 2015.On sliding, specifically under new Rule 6.01(j), “Interference, Obstruction, and Catcher Collisions,” slides on potential double plays require runners to make a bona fide attempt to reach and remain on...
