I did some research about the right guard position for the 49ers. Here is an article in 2014 apparently the 49ers signed a right guard who could not keep his starting jump. Erik Pears lost his job to Kouandijo and Marcus Martin is only a second year player who has not played a season. How wonder the right side of the line is messed up.

It's unclear whether Kouandjio is close to sliding into the starting lineup over the struggling Erik Pears, but coach Doug Marrone said the rookie "absolutely might" be active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Kouandjio has been a regular on the inactive list this season. He has seen work with the scout team as right tackle in practice, but it appears the team could be preparing him for a move inside.
