A lot of you won't wanna hear any of this (for whatever reason you choose today) but oh well. Say what they want, but while I can't guarantee Kaep woulda put up better numbers I do think he woulda been more effective. Yes he too has his flaws but he has the ability to wow us and create something when there is nothing there. I for one has said Gabbert would have til week 4-5 to prove himself before this conversation was had, but it seems others believe sooner than that. As I digress. The dropped passes by the TE's (wasn't the WR's this time) did hurt, but he left points and plays on the field with his inaccuracies and inability to make plays when we needed them. We can't fault the protection this time either. Bottom line, the D was on the field far too long (lack of offensive production) and Gabbert nor Hyde didn't do enough with their opportunities and in a sense blew them. It was close at the half. Against a team like that/better teams the offense has to score points and back up the D. As I said, I don't just fault Gabbert and Hyde though. While the D was on the field for the majority of the game we failed to pressure Cam period and allowed the, well Benjamin to have his way. Let's also acknowledge that while most of the coverage was goods, Cam was simply throwing dimes today. But hell, he had all day to do so. Bethea also has hands on the fault because that blown coverage allowed that go ahead TD to Olsen. There were also a multitude of missed tackles on D (including Bowman) ams miscues on special teams. We just have to get and be better. I do think us losing like that helped more than hurt though. Any/all flaws we had were put on display today and can/will be addressed and tweaked. It was a great measuring stick and being that it's so early we can work on everything. We look better at 1-1 this year than we did last year at this point by far and damn sure showed more fight than last year or recent years. You gotta take the good with the bad. We just took this one on the chin. Oh, and that phantom illegal contact penalty on 3rd down really fuckin hurt too. #NinersOnMine #KevMitchell
