File this in the back of your mind. Shields has the potential to be moved after the non waiver trade deadline too. Probable? That might be a stretch, but this actually makes sense before or after the 7/31 deadline. Padres will be looking to dump salary. The Giants have tons of financial flexibility. This would also not cost a ton of prospects, especially if it's a waiver deal....
