He was originally drafted as a catcher, but decided to go to college at Cal Poly SLO where he still holds the record for lowest ERA, at 1.92. He pitched professionally from '76 to '89, spending most of his career as a Gman, and retiring here. He has 5 kids and lots of grandkids whom he moved to Reno to be near in the off season.
